OM :: The Graduate

Eli’s graduation was yesterday. The same day my dad was being released from the hospital after his open heart surgery. I thought fo shizzle I was going to miss the ceremony. I kept telling myself that it’s just a ten minute performance and if I miss it, it’s not the end of the world. But I wasn’t believing a word of that. Nothing could stand-in for the moment he looked out in the audience and saw me smiling proudly at his accomplishment. And nothing did.

My youngest is now officially on his way to Kindergarten. It has been an adventurous five years with him. His life’s beginning in this world was enormously difficult, but we’ve been blessed with his incredible resilience and crazy/goofy ways.

I don’t know what the next five years will bring, or the next, but with this boy, it will always be an adventure.

  1. Congratulations Eli! There is something special about those little ones who had a difficult start. They force us to stop and give thanks for the joy they bring. It’s like a fabulous gift hidden behind those scary moments. Here’s to a wonderful transition from preschooler to big boy!
