I am very excited to host this giveaway of canning goodies!

One of the best instructional books I’ve read in awhile is Canning and Preserving with Ashley English: All you Need to Know to Make Jams, Jellies, Pickles, Chutneys & More. Ashley is the blog author of Small Measure, one of my favorite reads and a great tribute to homemade living. Canning & Preserving is one of her first books in a series called Homemade Living and it’s a terrific guide for anyone who wants to start canning. I’ve read it cover to cover and am SO ready to begin making my own homemade goodies.

I first met Ashley through her blog, where she was having a monthly giveaway of one of the canned creations from her book. I was the lucky winner of the September giveaway of Fig & Thyme Jam. It was so delicious that I had to send her a special thank you and I created tags for her canning jars. That sparked the creation of my own line of canning tags & labels. I asked for Ashley’s input on what she would look for and she graciously gave me her advice in the middle of a book deadline. I can’t thank her enough for taking the time and for sharing her expert opinion.

The giveaway includes one copy of Canning and Preserving with Ashley English: All you Need to Know to Make Jams, Jellies, Pickles, Chutneys & More, one set of 12 canning tags and one set of canning labels in the winner’s choice of design. The giveaway will run from today until next Monday, May 10 at noon. A winner will be selected and announced Monday afternoon.

You can enter the giveaway in a few different ways, but your main entry should be this: please go to the Canning section of RiverDog Prints here and enter a comment below about the design you like the most.

For extra entries, you may do any of the following one time and then leave a comment below:

Summer Reading List

I’m ready for summer! Lazy, warm days, lying in the sun with a good book. This is the stack I’ll be plowing through… The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: Oprah-approved and she’s a dog lover and there’s dogs in it. A Win-Win-Win. Nature Walks in Connecticut: A reference to broaden our trail hikes. The Art of…Continue Reading

Stephen Huneck

I was so sad to hear the news yesterday of the suicide of Stephen Huneck on January 7. He was such a champion for dogs and seemed liked a wonderful human. Below is a copy of my post from August about one of his books, so you can see his unique and beautiful art. Mr.…Continue Reading

Book Review – Moon Rabbit

If I ever published a picture book, I would want it to be as sweet and pretty as Moon Rabbit by Natalie Russell. Little Rabbit likes living in the city. During the day, she is occupied with everything the city has to offer. But at night, she feels lonely as she stares at the moon.…Continue Reading

Favorite Book Covers

Appreciating books is a daily occurrence here, but I wanted to share a few of my favorite covers. My very favorite cover and book is To Kill a Mockingbird. I’m drawn to it, not only for the cover design by Shirley Smith, but the memory of sheer pleasure that comes from reading a book that…Continue Reading

Inspired by Books

Books are an inspiration to me, always have been. And it gives me one of the best feelings to see my sons be inspired and engaged by books. This past weekend, we ventured into New York City to visit a family member and do a little sightseeing… the Natural History Museum, taking the subway, eating…Continue Reading

National Stationery Show 2009 – Part Two

Spending just one day at the National Stationery Show was many things to this newcomer: inspiring, exhausting, overwhelming, gratifying and many other “ings” that made it a very pleasurable experience. Thoughts of having my own booth next year do swirl in my head, but for now, I will concentrate on some of the great designers…Continue Reading

National Stationery Show 2009 – Part One

My inaugural blog post for RiverDog Prints should be about paper and the people who love it. So this is Part One of my newcomers review of the show in one speedy, inspiring and overwhelming day.  I should have known after I printed out the floorplan and couldn’t read the numbers (even with my glasses)…Continue Reading
