Move More, Eat Well

I want this to be the year that all the pieces of my knowledge about health and most every action I take, whether food choice or exercising, play into a very healthy me. Play will hopefully be a key word.

I run, but it’s time to do more.

I know what my body needs (instead of what my brain wants) and it’s time for my body to win that argument.

It’s time to go natural and give up hair color. (I have a plan for that scary bit.)

I have joined the Move More Eat Well workshop at Big Picture Classes run by Cathy Zielske. Not only will the workshop make me think about my actions throughout this year by doing writing prompts and making pages of my progress, there is a community of knowledge whenever I need it in the form of message boards and contacting Cathy directly.

To clarify (Clarity!), I am not starting at Square One. I ran 518 miles last year. I eat mostly whole foods and I cook using lean proteins and lots of fruits and veggies. But I love food and I’m 45. Which means I eat too much and too often and I need to move more to combat my age. Let’s see if I can do it this year.

It’s time.

Run RiverDog Run

I’ve started running again, yay me! When I say again, I must give you a little background… I’ve never been a runner, I’m more of a jogger, but it’s not cool to say jog anymore. That phrase got held back in the 70s and now it’s run. Because I like to be honest, I have… Continue Reading

44 x 44 :: Calling It

This is my last post for 44 x 44, ’cause I’m calling it early. If you’re reading this for the first time, you can reference what this is about here. I have mixed feelings about the whole process. I wouldn’t qualify it as a success or a failure. I’m disappointed, but not because I haven’t… Continue Reading

Grilling is Good

Seems like it’s going to be a very manly week here on the old blog. Bear with me though, this is good stuff. During the celebration of the 4th of July, we were able to enjoy much grilled food at a couple different venues. One of these places is a unique reserve plopped in the… Continue Reading

44 x 44 – #@$%&*!

I have inner turmoil. But before I get to that, I should recap what 44 x 44 means. At the beginning of 2010, I decided to pursue losing 44 pounds by my 44th birthday on August 24. I was feeling good and, more importantly, ready to shed the excess weight I’d been putting on since… Continue Reading

44 x 44 – Stuck

I’ve been sitting here trying to start this post… I guess writing about being stuck gets you stuck. My hesitation is to try and spare my readers of a pity party. But I’m sick of feeling sick. And I’m guilty for feeling that way, because in the grand scheme of life, my health is pretty… Continue Reading
