One Word 2011 :: Harmony

Last year, for the first time, I chose one word to guide me through twelve months. I found it to be a great way to think about life, family and business.

This year I chose the word Harmony. I thought of it while folding laundry (one of the forever constants in my life) and listening to music. Harmony is one of my favorite parts of music and it fits with how I want to travel through the year. The following are my harmonious plans for this space in 2011.

We Can will be a series you are invited to join. I will be participating in the Tigress Can Jam each month and inviting you to do it with me. Each person that volunteers and jars something yummy will receive a canning tag & labels gift pack from RiverDog Prints. I like the fact that I’ll be learning something new, we all get some goodies in jars to enjoy or share and some pretty paper for gift-giving.

Next on my list is an Alphabet Challenge. My plan is to draw one letter of the alphabet every other week all year. I’m not creating a new font, but a piece of art for each letter, which will be incorporated into a print every other week. My inspiration was a contest I saw on Twitter from Grace at design*sponge, but the timing didn’t allow me to participate. So, this is my own personal contest with the prize of a hand-drawn alphabet and 26 prints to boot!

Collecting Color will be a bi-monthly post on Tuesdays asking you to share what you’re working on, photographing, DIY-ing, reading or making. Anything goes, as long as it’s colorful, creative and you give Mister Linky some love.

Lastly, there is Green on Wednesday. I have quite a list of Kermit-style topics. One that both scares and intrigues me will be sharing how our family will reduce plastics and packaging in our lives. Think of how much packaging you use in a day… should be a crazy trip for us!

I’ll still be posting my 52 Pick-Up project (Week 19 already!) and OM every Friday too. I’m looking forward to a year full of possibilities and making some sweet harmonies.

  1. I love this “one word” concept. So much better than a resolution. If I had to pick a word, it would be “discovery”. Maybe I’ll do that! I’m looking forward to your new additions. Collecting color sounds like great fun — count me in!
