Orchestrate 2014

Orchestrate 2014

It is that word-picking time of the year!

I like to pick a defining word at the beginning of a calendar year. It’s a fun process that I usually think about for a couple weeks in December on my walks with Scout. I run through words in my mind until one immediately feels right for where I am at the time and where I want to go. This year is Orchestrate.

I thought about the word Focus and that was a close second. But I needed a word that was a little more fluid, a little closer to how my brain processes things. When you hear a great orchestra, it’s a combination of a lot of hard work, talent, experience, a great piece of music and everything working together. I hope to have moments in 2014 that will have that combination of factors orchestrated into something wonderful.

Happy New Year!

OM :: The Harmony of 2011

For the past couple of years, I’ve been choosing one word to follow me through the year. It’s a carefully chosen word to help improve my life across all aspects of living. As I read my one word post from the beginning of 2011, I’m unimpressed with myself. I chose the word Harmony, which is…Continue Reading

One Word 2011 :: Harmony

Last year, for the first time, I chose one word to guide me through twelve months. I found it to be a great way to think about life, family and business. This year I chose the word Harmony. I thought of it while folding laundry (one of the forever constants in my life) and listening…Continue Reading

OM :: The One Word 2010

This year I chose a word to guide and define my year. I chose Warmth and couldn’t be happier with how it has weaved itself into my daily life. Warmth colored my designs and my relationships and my thinking. I found that when I struggled with anything, I could ground myself with my one word.…Continue Reading
