Something you may not know about me is that I love to play golf. I don’t get to do it that often, but recently, my husband and I had a golf date for 9 holes. It was a beautiful day and we were able to golf as a twosome (often the Starter will pair up twosomes when the course is crowded and you can get stuck with some “very interesting people.”)
Both of us didn’t golf at all last year, so we got ready for a fun, but high scoring, round. We were pleasantly surprised that we did fairly well: hubby=56; me=53.
Golfing is one of the things I’m looking forward to in the years to come. When I was younger, I wondered why there were so many white-haired people golfing. Now I know why! You have to wait for your kids to grow up, so you can spend the time and money needed to play.
You can also play if you have a very understanding wife, but since I don’t have one of those, I have to wait to play. It seems that traditional way of thinking still exists when it comes to women and family and sports. There are so many more men’s leagues for the guys to play on nights and weekends. Not so much for the women. Don’t worry… I’m not going to go on a tirade about it. I’m too tired and spread thin enough.
I’d love to hear if you miss playing sports. If there was a league for old lady field hockey in my area, I’d be on it. Is there any sport you would play now, if you could? And if all the planets have aligned for you and you ARE playing a sport, please share.
Note: And if you don’t know a lot about golf, that score above? I beat hubby by 3 strokes. Woo-hoo!
