Celebrating Solstice

It’s Friday and our family is ready to do a little celebrating of summer solstice.  Every year, we mark the longest day with some kind of outing and tonight we’ll be having a picnic dinner at our local lake.

Hope you are celebrating too!

Dizzy After 40

On a whim, our family went to a local amusement park this weekend. Our almost 10-year-old is tall enough to ride any ride in the park now, but sadly, his parents have limitations. Since we turned 40, neither one of us can spin. Any ride that just goes round and round takes us down, permanently.…Continue Reading

Can’t Wait for School!

I’m a bit cranky lately about summer. From my last post, you know these humans are just running around doing all kinds of activities and they have to leave me home for some of them. [Again, what is UP with that? I behave better than some humans I know. I would be fine in any…Continue Reading

Grilling is Good

Seems like it’s going to be a very manly week here on the old blog. Bear with me though, this is good stuff. During the celebration of the 4th of July, we were able to enjoy much grilled food at a couple different venues. One of these places is a unique reserve plopped in the…Continue Reading

Golf is Good

Something you may not know about me is that I love to play golf. I don’t get to do it that often, but recently, my husband and I had a golf date for 9 holes. It was a beautiful day and we were able to golf as a twosome (often the Starter will pair up…Continue Reading

Summer Schedule

Recently, my husband and I had what you might call a heated discussion about my work schedule. I tend to work whenever I perceive a free moment at home. And I work every single day. I never thought of it as a problem. But I must admit, when I gave it some thought from my…Continue Reading

A Photo Reminder

Spent last weekend in the “country” and thought this sign was funny AND a gentle reminder to slow down and be mindful of your surroundings. I will take the advice of this polite, hand-painted sign and enjoy the last week of summer before school starts. Hope your summer was a good one!Continue Reading

Summer Fun

I have a couple confessions: #1 – My winter sweaters are still in my closet. I usually change them out in the springtime, but I do have some excuses for what appears to be LAZINESS. It was rainy and cold for 24 out of 30 days in June and when we weren’t traveling in July,…Continue Reading

Farmer’s Market

I was inspired by Kelly at one of my favorite blogs, eat make read, to check out a new farmer’s market in my area. Kelly does a whole Market Week where she will buy food only from the farmer’s market (or farm stand or from a garden) and create five meals using only flour, oil…Continue Reading
