I’d rather eat bugs than treadmill run.
That is an almost true statement. I was trying to come up with some dramatic action I might actually do that would illustrate my loathing of running on a machine inside. If eating bugs could be consider a workout, it wouldn’t be a contest.
Up until July of last year, I was doing a good job of moving my bod and keeping in shape. But then it got super-hot for a long period of time and I got busy and I fell off the workout wagon. It would have been a great time to use the treadmill in those unbearably hot months, but loathing is a hard thing to overcome.
So, as with much of civilization in first world countries, I took the beginning of the year to start anew and kick it off with some new motivating kicks. These new shows (pictured above) are made especially for winter running: excellent trail running treads; Gore-Tex lining; sturdy mother-truckers. And they allow me to get excited again about being outside and moving my less than taut frame.
I believe you have to keep moving your body for a lifetime. I don’t think there is any one way to keep active, but I do believe that we all need motivation. I’m going to track my activities this year on the blog in the hopes that it will be motivating. You can follow along here or in the following places:
Nike Running (using Nike+)
Daily Mile
If there was a yoga tracker, I’d join that too!
In the coming months, I hope to share my music playlists, fitness apps, more gear and the best advice I can muster. Get your body movin’!
