I am a huge fan of great pet names and this little feline does not disappoint! With a name like Poppet Rocket, I already love this cat, even before reading about her. Known for being a live wire, let’s meet this energetic kitty and her human, Cate.
Cat Questions
:::
What is your name?
Poppet Rocket.
What breed of cat are you?
I’m a Grey tabby.
How old are you?
I’m about four, I think.
Where did you come from (pound, rescue, breeder)?
I was adopted after being nursed back to health by the nice lady at the rescue (Dees Orphan Kitten Fund). I was so cute everybody wanted me, but so glad that Dees let my humans take me home. They already had a cat, Milly, who needed help as she was so traumatized.
Do you have a unique coat or markings?
I have the same markings as my ‘sister’ Milly, but in a different colour. My nose looks like I have outlined it in mascara.
Are you an indoor cat or an outdoor cat?
I like to go outdoors if the weather’s good and if the wind’s not blowing, but I never leave the yard.
What nicknames do the humans call you?
Poo-Poo, Poppy Longstockings, Pippy the love magnet, Poppalicious, Poo Bear, Spudsy, Boo, Poops and The Pooper
Do you like any of your nicknames?
They can call me whatever they want as long as they feed me, love me and adore me and, of course, I always pretend I can understand.
What is your favorite spot to nap?
Always under a blanket (and in their bed in the middle of the night). This is one of the reasons my mum’s blog was called ‘Under the blanket.’ In the winter, I’m always in front of the fire on my grey bed that matches my fur.
Are you the boss?
No, I leave that to Milly – she’s orange and has attitude. Sometimes she hides and pounces on me and then we run around the house chasing each other.
What toy(s) would you recommend to other cats?
Candy wrappers and string, I can’t make sense of the posh toys. I do like chasing Dragonflies and the little lizards in our yard and crunching houseflies – yum – like little flying treats.
What is your go to toy?
There is one little mouse full of catnip that was knitted by a lady for our local shelter that I sometimes bat around. My humans supply the lady with the catnip, but really I’d rather just eat!
What is the most fashionable thing you wear?
I have a super collar with dragonflies on it and a very slick blanket ID tag that has a matching butterfly. I’m not much of a fan of dressing up although I don’t mind my fluffy pink boa.
If you’re a reader, what is your favorite book?
What’s a reader? What’s a book? Can I eat it?
What is the oddest thing you’ve ever done?
Once, while we were all watching TV, I got a static electricity shock from sniffing my mum’s big toe and leapt right over the back of the couch.
What is your favorite activity?
Padding the air while I lie on my back having my tummy tickled.

Are you hygienic or do you need baths/grooming?
I get furminated (brushed with a furminator) regularly and my humans make big balls from my fur. I’m always licking myself clean…I am beautiful!
Is there somewhere you’d like to go but can’t?
I’d like to climb to the top of the pergola like Milly, but then I can’t get down. I’ve been stuck in trees more than once, so very wary of high places.
When do you purr the loudest?
When Milly lets me lie next to her between my mum and dad in the mornings and then she gives me a good licking. I missed that as a kitten as I had no mum.
What is the treat you will do anything for?
Fresh prawns, just love ’em.
What act caused you to receive the greatest punishment?
I’m a cat – I can do no wrong and therefore I don’t get punished. It’s funny but my parents think everything I do is cute.
How do you feel about dogs?
They’re all scary and I wish you hadn’t asked.
What is your greatest skill?
I can play ‘candy wrapper tennis’ on the bed.
If you could speak only one sentence in your human’s language, what would you say?
“Feed me then tickle me then let me rub my head on your chin.”
What is your favorite human food?
Butter – naughty but nice and don’t tell anyone.
If you could be granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
I’d like the fire left on, my belly tickled and I’d like Milly to wash me all day.
What do you love most about your human?
Every time I see them something nice happens.

I’m happy to hear a story of rescue, especially when human and pet are so meant for each other. Add a sibling like Milly to the mix, it really is magical. You can read more about their rescue story on under the blanket here. I’ll be stalking Milly on Thursday this week, so come on back then. Thanks to Poppet and Cate for sharing their story.
If you don’t know about it, Cate’s business, blanketID, is a wonderful idea. Once you purchase one of the pretty tags from blanket, you register your pet into a database that will help you find them if they are lost. You can read in detail how it works here. Part of every purchase and membership fee is donated to the Blanket Fund for Animals. I’ll share more info on that Thursday. See you then!

Very cute interview!
