I’ve been choosing a word to aspire to every year since 2010. It helps to define my direction in business and life and I put a lot of thought into it before I choose.
Purpose will help me do more for my family, my community and my business, in a thoughtful and strategic way. Plus, I’m hoping that with purpose in mind, some of the daily or weekly things I have found myself involved in in the past will fall away and only leave room for what’s necessary and enjoyable. May save my sanity a little bit, too, so my family and friends will be thankful for that.
Here are my past words, if you’re curious:
2015 Delight
2014 Orchestrate
2013 All-In
2012 Clarity
2011 Harmony
2010 Warmth

This is a really great word for the year. Trying to cut through all the “stuff” and getting down to what we need to do is the best thing we can do.
Thanks! The one word really does keep me focused on my intentions throughout the year.
Funny you should pick “purpose”. I was pondering the word “intention”. With families and business, life gets busy . When making decisions on how to spend valuable time, doing so with purpose or intention helps weed out the fluff so you focus on what’s truly meaningful to you, your business and your family. Yeah 2016!
Yes, exactly! I find choosing one word not only informs that one year, but becomes part of how you think for years to come. It’s pretty cool.
