Where You Live

Where You Live usually holds your heart. The place I live certainly does.

My husband and I chose to live in the suburbs for many different reasons: job location, public schools, the adventure of a yard. We chose this specific suburb as carefully as we could at the time we bought our house. We live close to wooded trails and miles and miles of bike paths. I can drive twenty minutes and be in farm country or travel twenty in another direction and be in a city. I’ll be sharing images of where I live from time to time and in the coming months, you’ll also see where my friends’ hearts live. Enjoy!

One of our favorite (and most iconic) farms in the area is Flamig Farm in West Simsbury. It’s an educational farm that has programs for both learning and fun. And check out their solar panels…awesome.

They sell their own eggs and clothing with the logo “SGGE” that can be seen all over the world. Maybe you’ve seen it too? Now you know where it orginated.

Kids and adults can learn quite a bit about farm life and the animals who live there. Animal residents include chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, horses, cows, turkeys and llamas. You can buy feed to try your hand at feeding the animals yourself. Many squeals can be heard when a horse or cow eats out of a little hand.

A visit to this farm is never complete without a visit to the dairy farm up the road. Unequivocally, the best ice cream anywhere! We are all about the ice cream.
