Monthly Goals for August

I know everyone will say this, but I can’t believe I’m writing my August goals already! Summer really does get shorter and shorter as the years go by…

I’m pretty excited by how much I was able to accomplish this past July. Not perfect, but very respectable in the checking-off department. Here is July’s list:

July Business Goals

1* Formalize email/newsletter communication This is complete!  If you’d like to sign-up for my newsletter, click here.
2* Create pdf download for newsletter sign-up I created a two-month calendar pdf freebie for signing-up.  This took much longer than I had anticipated, but worth it, I think.
3* Finish taking product shots   Not much progress in volume, but I have figured out a better and more arty process since opening my new Etsy shop.
4* Reach out to blogs for reviews (taking the place of press kits for now) I’m concentrating on pet-driven blogs for now for my photo cards and I think it’s a good focus.
5* Find the right blog for placing an ad Got a couple in the queue – we’ll see if they are the right fit.
6* Promote Facebook page  I’ve made steps with this, but I won’t be satisfied until I get my vanity url 🙂
7* Get the word out about Cards for Heroes promotion Yes!
8* Combine blogs? I have three: business, dog, life. Maybe organize them differently. Taking a break from my life blog and focusing on this one and Scout’s Dog Blog (more on hers below)
9* Finishing reading Web Marketing for Dummies 🙂  I’m jumping around in this 850+ page book; goal will carry over to August

August Business Goals

1* Promote Facebook page
2* Finish taking product shots
3* Focus on dog blog – interviews, giveaways, reviews, new series
4* Twitter – I have no friends! I’m a lurker and don’t engage enough. I really enjoy reading the comments and sometimes I’ll join in, but I need my own posse. You’ve been warned 🙂
5* Add products to Etsy shop
6* Check out the Etsy forum/blog/similar shop owners
7* Begin planning and designing for the holidays
8* Write another newsletter and create pdf download freebie
9* Finish reading Web Marketing for Dummies 🙂

I like the number nine, apparently. I’ll be around more in August, so I feel good about shooting for the moon and just getting close enough to feel the glow. This seems to work for me and everyone works differently, right? I’m excited to read your monthly goals – look for me on your blogs!

And, as always, thanks Jena for creating this great place for motivation!

    • Thanks Jena. This monthly meet-up has been great for me and my business. I’m excited to see your consultation goals completed – might be a good fit for me 🙂 Again, thanks so much for doing what you do!

  2. great job, you got so much done during the quick july month! totally inspiring to get things done even when it seems the days fly by! good luck for august!

  3. Wow.
You’ve done well…I hope you keep up the momentum into August.
I’ll have to check out the Web Marketing book too. How do you find it?
    Good Luck!

    • Hi Andrea-
I actually check most of the business books I read skim from the library and if I find them really useful, I’ll buy them. The Web Marketing for Dummies is so big and expansive, I decided to buy from Amazon. Good luck!

  4. wow, your july was really productive! i keep thinking about facebook, but i kind of hate it. i would be interested to get input on how others are using it as a business promotion tool (which might sound like a no-brainer, but i really think that using it for business would be different than using it for socializing, right?). anyway, i hope august is great for you!

    • I’m kind of a skeptic too when it comes to facebook and business. When I promote my business there, it’s only to friends or friends of friends. And I can’t help but wonder if they’re thinking “enough already!” Smarter people than me say it works, but we’ll see…

  5. I just dropped by from Modish biz-tips…great job on your goals! I know how hard it is to keep up more than one blog, so it makes sense to for now, focus on your business ones! Good luck!

  6. I’m totally inspired by your shooting for the moon/feeling the glow comment. Have a great time with your goals. I can feel your motivation and energy!

  7. Hi Cyn, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m your newest Twitter follower. I’m still holding out on joining Facebook. If it works for you, let us know:)

  8. I have a facebook page that doesn’t get much love either, but I’m trying to take things slow and try a little of everything, but focus on one or two things at a time to see what exactly works for me, different strokes for different folks!

    Good luck with august 🙂

  9. You did great in July! I really like what you said about getting just close enough to feel the glow–wonderful sentiment! Good luck in August, I know you’ll do swell!

  10. I just found the monthly meet up and it is my goal for August to set goals by Sept. and post them- I need this type of accountability- otherwise my time gets sucked into the vast unknown where all the lost socks are. I relate to twitter as well, I am a bit of a lurker- find me, twitter name momsdaily, and we’ll create our own posse 🙂 Best of luck with August!

  11. Hi,
This is my first month at the Monthly Goal Meetup – and in business on Etsy, so it’s nice to “meet” you.

Congrats on completing all your goals!

  12. I always forget about facebook as a marketing tool. Curious to hear how it works for you. Good idea about the free pdf download! Good luck this month!
