Pin It Forward is another Blogger Mash-up from Victoria of sfgirlbybay and I’m very honored to participate with this wonderful collection of blog authors. If this is your first visit here, my name is Cyn, and I am the owner and designer of RiverDog Prints, a home-based paper goods company residing in Connecticut.
The theme for this mash-up is “what home means to me.” We needed to created pin boards using Pinterest, a free online service to pin and share collections of things we love from around the web.
First and foremost for me, home is family. We have a lively household with two active boys, seven and four, our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Scout, and my camera-shy husband. There is a lot of laughter, some shouting, clutter, games, laundry, barking, snuggling, not enough sleep and lots of bubbles.

Home grown and home made have become very important in the definition of home. We grow food and flowers in our front yard, compost in the back (way back) and try to cultivate the idea of local food as the healthiest option for what we consider our home: our house, our community & our earth.

In late 2008, I left my 9 to 5 and dedicated some home time to my business. Slowly, I am achieving my goals and enjoying successes. Balancing family and work, all within my home, has been a challenging learning process. By year’s end, I will have converted our playroom to my home studio. Working at home has been a pleasure and a home studio will be frosting on that little cupcake.

Our home is filled with books and music. Almost every room has bookshelves lined with lovely books of all types. This love for books and for reading in our home is priceless. Music is cultivated by my husband, who plays guitar and piano. We have a beautiful baby grand passed down to him by his grandmother. She chose him to receive it simply because of his love for music. When I hear certain pieces of music, I feel like I’m home.
