I’m just beginning to dip my toe in the advertising pool and I thought it would be chilly! But to my cynical surprise, there are many warm and friendly resources out there to teach us newbies how to get started.
One of my favorite places for advice is Modish Biz Tips. Jena takes seemingly complex ideas and gives you a blessedly simple way to begin your journey. She asks great questions (some we may not have thought about) and answers them in a way that makes you think, “Oh, I can do that!” Be sure to check out the specific categories you’re interested in and also the excellent contributors Jena has lined up to share their knowledge and expertise.
Another source that continually feeds my needs is the Biz Ladies section of design*sponge. Rich in information, you can read a post every Tuesday afternoon that will guide you and your business on its way to success. Visiting experts inspire with real world advice and make the posts one of the greatest references on-line for design-based businesses. I frequently revisit posts from design*sponge Biz Ladies again and again. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing strong and sassy Rosie the Riveter?
A site I just discovered recently (they featured a friend of mine here) is Startup Princess. Kelly King Anderson gathers a wealth of great information from many sources, as well as herself, at her site. It’s intuitively organized, so you can find the information you are looking for easily. They even have Fairy Godmothers for consulting. And couldn’t you see Disney adding a new character named Startup Princess?
Those are my three main Go-To sites/blogs for navigating my way to fame and fortune for RiverDog Prints. Actually, I don’t need the fame and just a little bit of fortune would be fine! Hope these references help you in your journey.
