Cat Stalker :: Milly

One of my favorite things (pardon me, Oprah) is getting to know a pet family like Milly and Poppet’s. Cate and her husband rescued these two beautiful cats and nurtured them to feel happiness and love. A bit mushy, yes, but Milly is no gentle kitten. She rocks life inside her blanketID home and kicks back for a little TV to relax at the end of a rambunctious day.
Meet Milly.

Cat Questions
:::
What is your name?

My name is Milly.

What breed of cat are you?
I’m an Orange Tabby girl, which I understand, is quite rare.

How old are you?
Maybe 7 or 8 yrs old

Where did you come from (pound, rescue, breeder)?
Rescue. I hated it! I was adopted after living in a cage at the VPAS shelter for eight months. No one wanted me because I was so scared of everything. I was especially chosen by my humans because they wanted to help me.

Do you have a unique coat or markings?
I’m wearing the same coat as my ‘sister’ Poppet, but in Orange.

Are you an indoor cat or an outdoor cat?
I’m allowed outside because I’m street-smart but I like to stay in sight of my humans and I’m never allowed out after dark.

What nicknames do the humans call you?
Milfy, Mi-Lo, Moo Moo, Orange Face, Milly Munchkin, Mills and ginger winger.

Do you like any of your nicknames?
Don’t care, but I am clever and answer or ignore all of them.

What is your favorite spot to nap?
On the couch, on the bed and always on visitors’ beds whether they like it or not!

Are you the boss?
Oh Yeah!

What toy(s) would you recommend to other cats?
Toys are for woosies! That knitted mouse that my sister Poppet plays with…I like to give it a severe bunny kicking and leave it for dead.

What is your go to toy?
Poppet, she’s fair game and I like it when she chases me.

What is the most fashionable thing you wear?
I wear a collar and my BlanketID tag under protest. If you take it off I’m going to do all I can not to let you put it back on.

If you’re a reader, what is your favorite book?
King of the Jungle.

What is the oddest thing you’ve ever done?
I do it every night – I sit in the same spot, lean on the arm of the couch and watch TV.

What is your favorite activity?
I like to mooch around and check out the six-toed cat next door. I also like to lie upside down on my back beside my dad in bed.

Are you hygienic or do you need baths/grooming?
I get Furminated too, and for some reason I love dirt baths and licking myself clean which can be a major job.

Is there somewhere you’d like to go but can’t?
No, I’m the master of my own destiny, but I do prefer to be near my humans.

When do you purr the loudest?
Morning cuddles and tummy tickles.

What is the treat you will do anything for?
I like to have a rough brushing from my dad. To me that is the best treat ever. I sit in the middle of the floor every morning and stare at him until he brushes me. Sometimes I have to bump against his legs, but I always get my way.

What act caused you to receive the greatest punishment?
You’re kidding, as with Poppet I can do anything. I even hang off the back of the sofa if I like.

How do you feel about dogs?
If I was bigger I’d get ’em. They’re stupid and make my tail big.

What is your greatest skill?
Being able to talk. I have no idea what I’m saying, but I can hold a conversation with my mum. She seems to respond well.

If you could speak only one sentence in your human’s language, what would you say?
What’s that stupid cat Poppet doing here?

What is your favorite human food?
Tuna fish.

If you could be granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
That my humans love me and only me. Brush me and let me watch the damn TV!

What do you love most about your human?
They adore me.

Human Questions
:::
What words does your cat understand?

Hello, how are you?

What is the best thing you’ve taught your cat?
To always come home when I call her.

Are you the boss?
Only when the cats are asleep.

Do you have other animals?
Another cat, Poppet.

Have you ever considered toilet training?
No.

What drives you crazy about your cat?
Milly is very demanding and needs a lot of attention, but I don’t mind at all.

How does your cat make you laugh?
She has a funny half hour everyday and whizzes around the house chasing imaginary things.

Is there any weird behavior you’d like to share about your cat?
A lot of things Milly does are weird. She will always hide in the closet if there are people in the house and then stare at them if they sit in her spot.

What is your favorite activity with your cat?
Hiding, she loves the thrill of being pounced on.

What toy(s) would you recommend to other cat owners?
The simplest of things and just a fly to chase is probably the most fulfilling.

What is the best toy you’ve given your cat?
Both cats have hundreds of those little cat nip mice and just hide them under the furniture to jump on later.

Where does your cat sleep?
Milly will sleep anywhere.

If your cat could speak only one sentence, what would he/she say?
That Poppet, she’s so boring.

What is the most annoying behavior your cat exhibits?
She’s scared of most humans, and because we have a lot of visitors it can be frustrating at times.

Does your cat wear anything fashionable?
Smart collar and a blanketID tag.

Has your cat ever destroyed anything in your home?
No, she does all scratching and stuff outside. Good old Mills!

What do you love most about your cat?
How she has given her trust to me. She was once the most scared cat in the world and has managed to overcome most of her fears.

I seriously would just like to snuggle up to these two furballs. I think I could win them over to the dog side. You can read more about their rescue story on under the blanket here.

I wrote that I would give you more information about The Blanket Fund for Animals, the charity that helps animals in need and is funded by a portion of every purchase and membership fee from blanketID. Please visit under the blanket here to read about the work The Blanket Fund is doing. I hope it inspires you. Thanks again, Cate, Milly and Poppet, for sharing your story.

  1. The mysterious Milly! At first we thought that Milly was just a figment of Cate’s imagination – we never saw her – really!
Now when we visit she is a bit more friendly. At nights it’s very funny because Milly sits with both her paws up on the arm of the sofa watching the television intently.
