I’m excited to share my first canning experience. I only have a few photos because we had crazy, tornado-y thunderstorms move through as I was processing the brine and jar. Not good lighting for photos…
Dill Pickles from Canning & Preserving with Ashley English.
Hopefully the first of many canning experiences:

There are many canning parties going on this weekend. Check out the list of this Can-a-Rama at Canning Across America. I would definitely have joined this event, if I wasn’t going to be in an airplane on my way to another state. Check it out on July 24 & 25. Happy canning!

I am so impressed! Looks divine. I remember watching my mom can tomatoes as a kid. I’ve not tried canning myself but am tempted.
Have a great vacation,Cyn!
Thanks Linda! You should try it… next up will be Lemon Squash Jam 🙂

They look great – and I love your pretty jar lid! I can’t wait to hear how the squash jam goes – that sounds terrific.
I’ve been eyeballing that Ashley English book for a while on Amazon – I have the Ball Complete Guide, which is great, but I can always use another cookbook (lol!) How do you like it?
I like it very much so far. It’s not packed with recipes though – it’s a mix of beginner instruction, profiles of canners, history and a chapter on everything you might put in a jar. The whole book is quite beautiful.
Can you tell I like it, Sara? 🙂
