Cat Week and 1st Cat Stalker :: Buster

It’s Cat Week on the Dog Blog. Is that an oxymoron? Nah, I’m just an equal opportunity animal luh-vah. I’ll be stalking some cats this week and hope you enjoy these feline finds.

First up is Buster. A shrimp-obsessed, career-minded cat who seems to be part dog. He’s won me over already!

Cat Questions
:::
What is your name?

Buster

What breed of cat are you?
The handsome kind, what else?

How old are you?
8 years young

Where did you come from (pound, rescue, breeder)?
I was in a cage with my brother and sister kittens at the Animal Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, and when I saw my mom I waved at her and that was it. I was a keeper!

Do you have a unique coat or markings?
I have a black polka dot on my back left ankle and I have one black toenail on my back left foot. My mom tried to take a picture of these markings but I never cooperate.

Are you an indoor cat or an outdoor cat?
Indoors only but my mom tried her best to turn me into a harness wearing outdoor cat but I was terrified so that was the end of my lawn adventures!

What nicknames do the humans call you?
Butter! I guess my parents think I resemble a Butterball turkey.

Do you like any of your nicknames?
If looking like a Butterball turkey is a good thing then I’m all for it!

What is your favorite spot to nap?
Inside my coonhound sister’s doggy crate because it has lots of blankets in there and it’s very cave-like.

Are you the boss?
My older cat brother Henry rules the roost which makes sense because he is the oldest fur-child in the house.

What toy(s) would you recommend to other cats?
Cat nip toys are the best, paws down!

What is your go to toy?
My cat brother, Henry, of course! Sometimes he doesn’t appreciate the abuse but that’s what brothers are for, right?

What is the most fashionable thing you wear?
The “Does This Shirt Make Me Look Fat?” t-shirt. I thought I’d be able to add it to my permanent wardrobe but my mom gave it to a pug named Isabella instead.

If you’re a reader, what is your favorite book?
Careers For Your Cat by Ann Dziemianowicz because the author really helped me find my place in the world. Because of her, I have a career as a model, a taste tester, and a sleep specialist.

What is the oddest thing you’ve ever done?
I peed on my dad’s shirt when he was carrying me into our new apartment. I was scared. I don’t like change.

What is your favorite activity?
Warming my mom’s feet when she’s sleeping.

Are you hygienic or do you need baths/grooming?
I know a thing or two about grooming myself, thank you very much.

Is there somewhere you’d like to go but can’t?
I’d like to walk around on a leash with my mom but I’m afraid of the outdoors.

When do you purr the loudest?
When my dad cooks anything that involves shrimp!

What is the treat you will do anything for?
Like I said before, “Shrimp!”

What act caused you to receive the greatest punishment?
For some reason, Henry does not like to be pounced on or bullied out his favorite resting spots.

How do you feel about dogs?
I’ve lived with a coonhound named Daisy for a little over a year now. She’s okay. I can take her or leave her but it looks like she’s staying with us for good!

What is your greatest skill?
Even thought I weigh 20 pounds, I am an amazing cat tree climber.

If you could speak only one sentence in your human’s language, what would you say?
I’d like more shrimp, please!

What is your favorite human food?
Again…shrimp!

If you could be granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
First, I’d like to lose a few pounds. Second, I’d like to explore the great outdoors without being so nervous about it. Third, I’d like my mom to be a stay at home mom so I can sit in her lap all day.

What do you love most about your humans?
I love everything about them, really.

Human Questions
What is your cat’s name?

Buster

What breed of cat do you have?
A domestic short haired cat

How old is your cat?
8

Where did you get your cat (pound, rescue, breeder)?
At the Animal Hospital in Pensacola, Florida

What nicknames do you call your cat?
We call him “Butter” because he truly looks like a Butterball turkey when he sits in certain positions. He weighs 20 pounds and holding and holding….

What words does your cat understand?
He understands every single word we say although he does ignore us at the most inconvenient times!

What is the best thing you’ve taught your cat?
He is a natural model and we have dozens of photos to prove it.

Are you the boss?
No way! Henry is the boss of the house and we all give in to his every command.

Do you have other animals?
Yes. We share our lives with an 11 year old tabby named Henry and a 2 year old treeing walker coonhound named Daisy.

Have you ever considered toilet training?
No way. End of discussion.

What drives you crazy about your cat?
His weight bothers us a great deal and we’ve tried everything to help him lose a few pounds. Thankfully, he’s stayed at the same weight for years and hasn’t tipped the scales past 20 pounds.

How does your cat make you laugh?
Buster sits up like a person while watching TV with us!

Is there any weird behavior you’d like to share about your cat?
I envy his purrfect yoga moves on a daily basis!

What is your favorite activity with your cat?
He is my reading companion. It is wonderful to have a warm cat at my feet while I snuggle up to a good book.

What toy(s) would you recommend to other cat owners?
Cat nip toys, furr sure!

What is the best toy you’ve given your cat?
His brother, Henry.

Where does your cat sleep?
Wherever he wants to lay his head is fine with us!

If your cat could speak only one sentence, what would he/she say?
He would tell us that he would like to eat more shrimp, please.

What is the most annoying behavior your cat exhibits?
When Henry finds a nice resting spot, Buster often bullies him out of it and then a loud cat fight follows. Annoying.

Does your cat wear anything fashionable?
He is our pug clothing model. If a particular t-shirt catches my eye, such as the “Does this shirt make me look fat?” shirt I will put it on Buster before I hand it over to our pug friend, Isabella. I don’t think he appreciates his pug clothing model status but I get a kick out of it and that’s all that matters, right?

Has your cat ever destroyed anything in your home?
Unfortunately, yes! He loves to chew on every curtain cord he can find. Very annoying!

What do you love most about your cat?
He is part-dog; follows us from room to room and he is the first one to greet us at the door when we return home from work.

  1. Hello!
It’s me, Buster, and I hope you can hear my meows and purrs from miles away as you read about fantastic, shrimp-loving me, Mr. Butter! Even though I have 3 jobs: male model, taste tester, and sleep specialist I am beginning to think that I should dabble a bit in sales because I was the one who pitched the idea spotlighting cats on this website. Aren’t you proud of me, feline friends?
Anyway, thank you, Riverdog Prints Lady furr giving me the place of honor on your site! I am sure I will get lots of shrimp for dinner tonight because I am now the star of the house and I can get anything I want now! Meow!
By the way, Lady, my mom says she is going to send the link to the post on Facebook (she has 2 accounts) and on her hubby-to-be’s FB account too! She also said she’s going to tell all of our cat blogger friends to sign up for the Cat Stalker thingy TODAY!
    Meows and Purrs….Buster

  2. Buster’s assistant sent us over here to read this interview and we are so excited that we came. That is a terrific interview and we would like to do one too on one of our cats whose name is Mewmew and she comes when her assistant whistles. Our assistant went to Facebook and couldn’t get the link to work that goes to your email But that was a super interview. Have a wonderful day.

  3. Thank you for such a fantastic interview from both Buster and his human!! We hope Buster got tons of extra shrimp for being such a super duper star kitty!

    Take care
    x
