Actually, the incident happened in school the day before, after a very positive parent-teacher conference. I guess my eight-year-old felt the need to explain that “frickin'” is not the right word to use and is a poor substitute for the original, which he proceeded to say out loud in class. As with most boys, he’s not very sneaky, even if he tries. They flip cards in class when someone misbehaves and he had to flip two, which reflects on the class as a whole. So at 5:45am, the guilt hit him smack in the face and the drama commenced.
\n
\nThe surprise was the night before. As we were tucking the five-year-old into bed, my husband gave him a water bottle in case of a coughing fit in the middle of the night. I noticed it wasn’t his, but his brother’s, and then got distracted by something else. Lights out, nighty-night.
\n
\nFive minutes later, little feet come down the steps, “Dad? This doesn’t taste good.” Husband investigates… and yup, it’s pee. In the water bottle. No one knows how it got there. It’s a frickin’ mystery.
\n
\nMy moment was to realize that I could have a meltdown about all this bad behavior or I could choose to reasonably set the boys straight and have a good laugh with my husband in private. Which do you think I chose?
\n
\n
:::<\/center>
\n
\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft height=\" src=\"http:\/\/cynthomas.com\/rdpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/OM_alamodemeetupbutton4.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"om [one moment] meet up\" width=\"139\" \/><\/a>OM is *one moment* and is a meetup designed to notice & relish a moment in everyday life.
