\"\"Overall, it’s been a fun week on vacation in Colorado with lots of activities and mostly fine weather. What I forget before coming here twice a year is that I will be the lone female. Three adult males and two little boys all living in the same space with me.
\n
\nI’ve mentioned that as a child I envied boys their freedom. To always wear pants\/shorts, take shirts off and never reminded to be “ladylike,” I thought they had it made. I wished I were a boy on many occasions, but knew that was impossible. I have a distinct memory of making a wish for all boys when I became a mom in the future. Ha!
\n
\nBetween protecting my space in the common bathroom, eyes always looking to me for meal planning and the general mess in every area, I realized that boys are wondrous. I don’t understand them all the time and I sometimes long for a female ear or a commiserating female look, but on the whole, I really enjoy the difference between us. Even with towels and shoes on the floor, clothes used for napkins and the irritating smacking of lips by both old and young men, I can sit back and revel in boy joy.

\nI’ve never been a mom who wanted a girl and ended up with two boys. I’m a mom who is very happy to have two healthy, wonderful, mysterious creatures. A pretty good moment that can last a lifetime.
