\"\"<\/a>I was able to travel about an hour north one evening this week to hang out with my sister-in-law, Jayne, and to meet Kate Payne of The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking<\/a>. Kate is on a book tour for her modern guide to homemaking that is full clever, useful, green and budget-friendly ideas. She’s doing pickling demonstrations at farmer’s markets and at smaller venues with pot-luck food and drink. I bought two of her books, one for me(!) and one to giveaway on this blog sometime soon (stay tuned for that!)
\n
\nKate was warm and lovely in person and it was great to hang out with my SIL, Jayne. We met many locals at a sweet shop called sticks and bricks<\/a>, had some yummy food and drink, making it an evening well-spent.
\n
\nThis summer, I was lucky enough to travel to San Francisco via Reno and meet up with my online friends, Angie and Linda. We met in Reno and road tripped to San Francisco for the CCE West Conference<\/a>. It was worth the hours of travel and jetlag to see these ladies and share a great experience. I won’t remember my lack of sleep, just the fun and rewarding moments shared with terrific friends.
\n
\nI think it is so important for women to take time away from their daily routines and venture out into the world. Even better when we venture to a place that supports other women in their ventures. Whether it’s around the block or across the world, the time and energy we take to do this for ourselves and our fellow women-folk is fulfilling for everyone involved.

\nThe laundry, the dishes and your other obligations will wait.
