And it gives me one of the best feelings to see my sons be inspired and engaged by books.<\/p>\n<p>This past weekend, we ventured into New York City to visit a family member and do a little sightseeing&#8230;  the Natural History Museum, taking the subway, eating (of course!) and to see the mecca of <em>The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_212\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-212\" style=\"width: 229px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-212\" title=\"lighthouse-bridge\" src=\"http:\/\/cynthomas.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/lighthouse-bridge-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Lighthouse and the George Washington Bridge\" width=\"229\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-212\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Lighthouse and the George Washington Bridge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_210\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-210\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-210\" title=\"lighthouse\" src=\"http:\/\/cynthomas.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/lighthouse-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Our Main Character\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cynthomas.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/lighthouse-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/cynthomas.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/lighthouse.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-210\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our Main Character<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The story is about the Little Red Lighthouse and his place in the world.  This is shaken up by the construction of the Great Gray Bridge.  It&#8217;s a wonderful story of being tiny in a very big world, but finding your place and how <strong>you<\/strong> are important, no matter your size.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nMy boys were SO excited to actually see a character from one of their storybooks &#8211; I must say, I was excited too.
