One of my favorite things (pardon me, Oprah) is getting to know a pet family like Milly and Poppet’s. Cate and her husband rescued these two beautiful cats and nurtured them to feel happiness and love. A bit mushy, yes, but Milly is no gentle kitten. She rocks life inside her blanketID home and kicks back for a little TV to relax at the end of a rambunctious day.

\nMy name is Milly.

\nWhat breed of cat are you?<\/span><\/em>
\nI’m an Orange Tabby girl, which I understand, is quite rare.

\nHow old are you?<\/span><\/em>
\nMaybe 7 or 8 yrs old

\nWhere did you come from (pound, rescue, breeder)?<\/span><\/em>
\nRescue. I hated it! I was adopted after living in a cage at the VPAS shelter<\/a> for eight months. No one wanted me because I was so scared of everything. I was especially chosen by my humans because they wanted to help me.

\nDo you have a unique coat or markings?<\/span><\/em>
\nI\u2019m wearing the same coat as my \u2018sister\u2019 Poppet, but in Orange.

\nAre you an indoor cat or an outdoor cat?<\/span><\/em>
\nI\u2019m allowed outside because I\u2019m street-smart but I like to stay in sight of my humans and I’m never allowed out after dark.

\nWhat nicknames do the humans call you?<\/span><\/em>
\nMilfy, Mi-Lo, Moo Moo, Orange Face, Milly Munchkin, Mills and ginger winger.

\nDon’t care, but I am clever and answer or ignore all of them.

\nWhat is your favorite spot to nap?<\/span><\/em>
\nOn the couch, on the bed and always on visitors’ beds whether they like it or not!

\nOh Yeah!

\nToys are for woosies! That knitted mouse that my sister Poppet plays with\u2026I like to give it a severe bunny kicking and leave it for dead.

\nPoppet, she’s fair game and I like it when she chases me.

\nWhat is the most fashionable thing you wear?<\/span><\/em>
\nI wear a collar and my BlanketID tag under protest. If you take it off I’m going to do all I can not to let you put it back on.

\nWhat is the oddest thing you’ve ever done?<\/span><\/em>
\nI do it every night – I sit in the same spot, lean on the arm of the couch and watch TV.

\nI like to mooch around and check out the six-toed cat next door. I also like to lie upside down on my back beside my dad in bed.

\nI get Furminated too, and for some reason I love dirt baths and licking myself clean which can be a major job.

\nNo, I’m the master of my own destiny, but I do prefer to be near my humans.

\nMorning cuddles and tummy tickles.

\nWhat is the treat you will do anything for?<\/span><\/em>
\nI like to have a rough brushing from my dad. To me that is the best treat ever. I sit in the middle of the floor every morning and stare at him until he brushes me. Sometimes I have to bump against his legs, but I always get my way.

\nWhat act caused you to receive the greatest punishment?<\/span><\/em>
\nYou’re kidding, as with Poppet I can do anything. I even hang off the back of the sofa if I like.

\nHow do you feel about dogs?<\/span><\/em>
\nIf I was bigger I’d get ’em. They’re stupid and make my tail big.

\nWhat is your greatest skill?<\/span><\/em>
\nBeing able to talk. I have no idea what I’m saying, but I can hold a conversation with my mum. She seems to respond well.

\nMilly is very demanding and needs a lot of attention, but I don’t mind at all.

\nShe has a funny half hour everyday and whizzes around the house chasing imaginary things.

\nA lot of things Milly does are weird. She will always hide in the closet if there are people in the house and then stare at them if they sit in her spot.

\nHiding, she loves the thrill of being pounced on.

\nThe simplest of things and just a fly to chase is probably the most fulfilling.

\nBoth cats have hundreds of those little cat nip mice and just hide them under the furniture to jump on later.

\nMilly will sleep anywhere.

\nThat Poppet, she’s so boring.

\nShe’s scared of most humans, and because we have a lot of visitors it can be frustrating at times.

\nNo, she does all scratching and stuff outside. Good old Mills!

\nHow she has given her trust to me. She was once the most scared cat in the world and has managed to overcome most of her fears.
