All-In 2013

all-in-2013I like to pick a defining word at the beginning of a calendar year.

My purpose is to think of this word frequently and let it guide my daily choices to a positive end. It’s one of those things that really works for me and helps my sometimes manic and over-scheduled brain focus on what my gut knows is right. AND is worth my Time. (Time should always get a capital T! Like Mr. T., Time does pity the fools.)

In thinking about this year’s word, I kept returning to the concept of all-in. Yes, it’s two words or a one-word hyphenate, but it has one meaning for me. This is a defining year for my business. It will be a turning point and I’m determined to steer it in an upward direction. The only way to accomplish this is to be all-in.

All-in works for my family and my home. It does not mean I need to “have it all” (which is such a BS media creation anyway.) All-in means that whatever I am focused on at the time will get my full attention. Be it my boys, my husband, creating a new product, filling an order or folding the laundry, I am all-in.

I’ve listed specific goals in the past in these posts. I won’t be doing that this year. I’ve learned that publishing a list is not effective for me. I need pen and paper to cross out and add scribbles in the margins and to eventually make a fresh list for the new to-do-s.

A new year, a new “word”. Ready, set, go.

…YES! If we each take the time to do this it will positively impact every relationship and task that fill our lives. Multitasking is overrated and often futile. Truly nurturing the aspects of our lives that mean the most to us is always time well spent.
